Top 40 Shortstop Rankings for 2025
George Bissell and Dave Shovein release their preliminary shortstop rankings for the upcoming fantasy baseball season.
With just a few weeks left until spring training, our fantasy positional preview series continues here at The Buzz with our initial run of shortstop rankings for the 2025 season from George Bissell and Dave Shovein. There’s zero debate at the apex. Bobby Witt Jr., Elly De La Cruz and Gunnar Henderson will be first-round selections in all snake draft formats with Francisco Lindor, Mookie Betts and Trea Turner rounding out the consensus half-dozen upper-echelon options. The rest of the shortstop talent pool is well-stocked with intriguing fallback options and a plethora of up-and-coming talent.
We’ll take a much deeper dive into the positional group throughout the remainder of the week with Dave’s signature Early NFBC ADP Analysis before diving into rankings debates centered around Xavier Edwards and Masyn Winn. We’ll wrap things up with our Sleeper Candidates and Top 50 Dynasty League Rankings that include in-depth breakdowns of top prospects Leodalis De Vries, Sebastian Walcott, Colt Emerson, Jordan Lawlar, Carson Williams, Jesus Made, Kevin McGonigle and more. We also have Chris Clegg of Dynasty Dugout stopping by for this week’s Ask The Experts segment to share his thoughts on the top prospects fantasy managers need to know.
I’d take Zach Neto over Oneil Cruz, for both 2025 and dynasty leagues. Runs more, younger, higher WAR (double in ‘24), etc.
